Dear Family,
Wow thanks so much for the wonderful emails from you and mom. There is so much I want to say and I wish I could comment on everything but time is spare. It's good to have an update and hear how things are going. This week has been pretty emotional for me just thinking about you all and how much I love you all.
I read about John LeSueur the first member of the LeSueur's and I wanted to cry, cry because of how many souls just he brought to the church its so amazing and I loved reading about all he went through what an amazing man!
You all sound busy at home doing all your doing. It feels so good coming here each week to see how everyone is doing and still hanging in and hopefully being blessed and Romney may be the next president!!! yay!!! I love the letter from you mom it's brought such peace and joy in all the words you've said. You both are such amazing parents and its amazing how being away from you has made me love you both a million times more, I seriously have never been so emotionally spiritual, my heart is so full for you both and what amazing examples you are. I want to cry every time I think of you both not even because I miss you but because of the love I feel for both of you. Thank you for everything!!! And mothers day ill have one hour to skype and ill let you know more details when I find out :) I love you sooo much your emails have brought me such comfort!!!
Yes we live next to a big lake that I've only seen from a distance but its there, and we are pretty close to the beach. Last p-day when we went to the city we drove next to it and it was sooo beautiful! The language is coming along much better. I've started understanding a lot more of what people are saying, but its pretty hard for people to understand me partly because I learned Portuguese in Sao Paulo and the accent is way different (mainly more sloppy and things are all mushed together when they talk) so when I say something its an American and Sao Paulo accent. Buts it's better.
In the picture my bed is the one underneath the window, it was a bunk bed when we got here but we took the top off and now its mine and the room is even smaller. Our room is the one without the "beautiful" curtain, and I agree that we should buy a new one. Today we had a cleaning day so everything is sooo much cleaner, well as clean as its going to get, I think. Eventually the church will just change the place we live, probably after I leave this area (haha). Doug Lewis slept outside? Wow that's way cool. We live next to a little sewer river that runs along the road so there are tons of mesquitos at night and we live in an apartment so I don't think id be able to sleep outside until I lived in a house, but that would be nice because the nights feel pretty good outside. And I don't think it would be very safe in our part of Recife...but not sure.
As of buying things there are a lot of little shops around where we live that have a lot of stuff to buy but if you want anything really nice or specific the city is probably better. Speaking of that I bought a music box here, everyone has them they are literally little boxes that you plug your USB or SD card into and play your music its way cool, but there is no display or anything so you have to memorize the numbers. Mine is kind of big but is was the only one the loja (shop) had and it lights up and the lights change colors once it's on. All the siblings at home would make fun of me if they saw it, especially Breck, Tye and Brigham. Tessa might like it!
This week was pretty good. I feel like we could be knocking more doors and working harder but my companions insists that members and less actives are better ways of prosilyting which is pretty true so that's what we've been doing. Earlier this week we met with the grandmother of a less active member that's become active again and the grandmother committed to baptism and elder Sacilotto wants me to baptize her so we are way excited about that. It will be in two weeks so we hope that all will stay well with her. Things are pretty much the same otherwise. I tried to make a hamburger this week and it looked pretty good, but I learned an important lesson. You can't make an American hamburger in Brazil so it wasn't very good and I felt pretty sick afterwards. The mustard is very strange here and all other ingredients in a hamburger except the tomato that was good. Tomorrow we have splits and so ill be with the district leader for 24 hours, that will be fun cuz he knows a little English and we both get along really well. As of clothes and things, mesh garments rock here. It dries quickly and yeah that's all that's needed. I wish I would have brought more than one towel though, my shoes are great, and I even found an extra pare of old Ecco's that were left here that might be my size haha. Cereal is expensive here, which is depressing but ill live. Good news one of the members is going to let us use their webcam for Mother's Day so I can see the family!!! I'm way excited and ill let you know the time when I find out. What's the time difference?
I've been reading about the sons of Mosiah and Alma this week and it amazes me all they went through, reading about them as a missionary is mind blowing seriously mind blowing! They gave up their fathers kingdom so that they could serve a mission for 14 years and were beat on and thrown in jail, its truly amazing all the things they did, and in the end brought thousands and thousands of souls unto Christ and because of them thousands and thousands of people will live in eternal happiness.
Love you all. Thanks for the supports and I pray for you all that are not here with me. Hurrah for Israel and the gathering of Gods last dispensation (it sounds so hard core and is!)
Love you all,
Elder Nate P LeSueur
