So some interesting things about Brasil...or my area at least. Everywhere is different. Actually this is all pretty much just my little area. I can walk across my whole area in 6 minutes easy.
All dvds you buy here are illegal, so everyone has a lot of 1 dollar movies.
There are more people that ride bikes and motorcycles than cars
The phone numbers have 8 numbers
Pennies are rare nobody has 1 cent....haha
Nobody has fans on the ceilings only the small portable ones...some are actually pretty big and definitely do the job! oh and definitely no AC here
A door approach is either a clap or yell approach, and not at the door, at their gates
A lot of guys ride around on their bikes with big huge boom boxes, they think they are pretty gangster
When you take a shower you use a giant squeegee to put the water down the drain
Toilet paper doesn't go in the toilet, it goes in the trashcan...who invented the toilets here??
There is no hot or cold on any water dispenser only...normal
The only nice thing that anybody has here is huge sound systems and big TVs...for music and soccer games. There is always a soccer game on!
In The US you see a lot of good looking girls with not good looking guys, here its the opposite...
There is no such thing as a gallon of milk or any size close to it
In Brazil you call a black person Negro. calling they preto (black) is...really bad
There are two cereals here, chocolate frosted flakes and just normal frosted flakes....oh and some type of cereal that looks like coco puffs.
Peanut Butter is kind of a big deal
Sweet and condensed milk is also kind of a big deal
Everybody here is very religious, everyone has a church and everywhere there are signs that say Deus e Fiel (God is faithful)
A snake here is a girl that chases missionaries, and a scorpion is a guy that chases girls...
It is normal to have little ants all over everything...
Rich people (in my area) live in apartments
Push is pull in Portuguese (pux) my companion had a cramp in his leg and yelled push push!!! So I pushed his foot, he started screaming so I'm backed off, everyone one was laughing it was pretty funny, he meant pull... (the x makes a sh or s sound in Port.)
In stead of man or dude people say cara (which means face) that's like us calling each other face...weird
The Brazilian missionaries are extremely clean constantly cleaning their teeth and making sure they look perfect and smell beautiful before they go out.
Last but not least Brazilians think that the US is very very dangerous (because of terrorists) they asked if I was afraid to walk around outside and especially in airports, one member said that in the US when somebody drops a bag in the airport everybody drops on the ground....I thought I was sheltered from the world - haha
Thank you so much for all your prayers, they really help!
