scary and exciting news from nate 6-18-12

Hey! This week has been pretty normal, which is kind of a bad thing because none of our investigators are really progressing, none seem to want to read or pray which is a problem if they want to receive an answer. We have stopped teaching Wilton because he said he doesn't want to be baptized, but he knows the church is true. We really have done all we can for him to help him realize the importance of baptism and the happiness it will bring in his life and for eternity. Work has been pretty hard, like normal, finding people who want to hear but I know the people that God has prepared will come.

This week (yesterday) I gave my first talk in Portuguese in our ward. I was super nervous but got through it, truly with the help of the Lord. I had it pretty open ended with just a few notes so I could just say what I felt the ward needed. It was about missionary work.

This week we also had interviews with the president. It went really well and he said that soon I'd be seeing a lot of changes. I asked if he meant for me personally or the mission. All he said is YOULL SEE. That was kind of scary but it was a good interview and I could tell the president really cared about me. Well transfers were today and last night as elder Sacilotto and I waited eagerly to get the phone call to see who would be transferred and who would stay and receive a new companion, the DL called and it turns out the Elder Saci was leaving and I was staying...TO TRAIN A NEW MISSIONARY! When I had the interview with President, at the end of the interview I told him how much I appreciated him and he said back to me that I help him. He said "Elder LeSueur, you help me." Wow, I don't know how but I thought that was really cool that he said that, and that he trusts me enough right now to train a new missionary which is really serious here for everyone. The DL reminded me that I have the trust of the President, the area, and my ward on my back now. My next three months will be an important time for learning and growth.

The night was literally a roller coaster of emotions as my own training as a missionary ended and after almost 3 months I am already training a new missionary! All the other elders were exited for me and were telling me what a great experience it will be. It is kind of like before a terrorist runs into a building with bombs strapped to his chest and his brothers are telling him what a great experience it will be.

Today I am in the Center of the city of Recife with a bunch of other really new elders that are also training going to be training (we are all Americans). For today I will hang out with these 5 other Americans walking around this huge city as people look at us all weird in our white shirts, ties, and speaking English. It's pretty funny, but we are all super nervous because we heard that there are only 2 Brazilians coming that are new so most of us might get Americans. Right now having an American companion that doesn't speak any Portuguese would be a very bad thing, unless it was revelation from God. So we are trusting that our president knows this is how it should be.

So today all the other elders that got new companions already went back to their areas, but those of us that will be training new missionaries will have to sleep at an elders house near the mission office and then tomorrow at around 5 we will receive our new companions fresh out of the CTM bakery. So today and tomorrow is really just a big American party. This next transfer really will be interesting and I'm extremely scared and exited. Scared for what is to come. This time of the mission is when you either find faith in Christ and the Holy Ghost leading you to success, or go home. Thank you, thank you, for your prayers, because after today I'm really going to need them.

I love you all!!!
Elder LeSueur
