Elder LeSueur: mayra the elect baptized & junior on fire 4-15-13

Hey Family!!!!

Soooooo, where do I start.....this week we had a lot of people as potential baptisms but also a lot fell through because the enemy was working with our zone so hard! We had 10 baptism planned and ready and at the last minute 5 fell through. There were a couple nights this week where I thought I was going to die of stress. You learn to love your investigators so much and they deny all the truth and happiness that they had given to them on a silver plate. Super depressing, but that’s why you have a companion to lift you up when you are down. Then the next day when he is down you get to lift him up. Anyway I try not to get too stressed because if I loose any more weight it would be bad, so we are trying to stay positive and eat a lot of cuscus (pronounced coos coos). I sent a picture to show you cuscus.

For the happy things... we have been getting a lot of references from Junior (our new member) and his family. This next week his friend José and his family will be getting baptized! Mayra (the elect) was baptized on Saturday and confirmed Sunday. I had the great opportunity of baptizing her :o)

Also the questions about Garanhuns (Gaur- au-ynoons) the NH together makes a wierd yn sound in Spansh it looks like this ñ. and yes it has been super super hot here, i have been getting pretty dark as you see in the pictures and sweating a lot. We also have been walking a lot of hills. A bunch of our investigators live at the top of a huge huge steep hill called Magano. I’ll have to take a picture of it. Yes people called this place Cidade dos Flores, meaning City of Flowers which is cool. And the City of Drizzle, no one has been using because there hasn’t been rain here for a long time and everyone’s animals are dying on the sides of the roads. That’s cool that you guys are following along with the weather here on the internet, It’s been a big deal lately because usually this time of the year its cold and rainy but its definitely not.

About Irevaldo, who was also going to get baptized, he went crazy. He said he did something really really bad and can’t get baptized or talk to us anymore. We tried talking to him more but he is a little crazy and kept saying weird things that didn’t make sense. It was sad but we need to stop teaching people who have problems mentally, rather than spiritually.

Cool story... so Junior who was baptized a month ago is a super missionary and talks to everyone about the gospel. He comes up to us each time we see him and says “hey my friend so and so wants to be baptized”. He is super full of the spirit and only talks about the church. This last week he was walking on the side of the road and saw that there was a fire (there are always fires here on the sides of the roads because that is how people get rid of their trash). He felt the spirit telling him to put it out (which he thought was weird because there are always fires on the road), So he ran over to throw sand on it, as he was throwing sand on it, it got bigger so he stepped back. When he stepped back he saw a bunch of paper that would also catch on fire and make the fire spread bigger, When he went to move the paper he saw a puppy that was caught on fire! As soon as he saw it, the fire blew up really big and burnt his arm but he still went into the fire and pulled the puppy away. So now his arm is all burnt up and he has a puppy that’s name is Toasted. He was happy that the he was in tune with the spirit enough to save the puppy. Random story but I liked it, Junior is great and it will be great to see his friend Deputy be baptized with his family on Saturday.
