Dear Family,
Hey Dad, hope you are doing well. You look terrible in the pictures, but luckily that’s just you recovering from your hip replacement:) But I do like the cane. You can hit Allie with if she’s being bad or use it to shoo the boys away from her. Anyway, I’m glad that the surgery worked and you are getting better. Maybe you’ll be so good that we can run a few marathons when I get home :)
Also, that’s really great about Jennie going to Alabama on her mission! How awesome! She’ll come home with a bunch of crazy hick stories like Tye did. Tell her I say congrats!
And thanks Dad for the warning this week. I’ll make sure to be extra sensitive with the spirit and talk to those who I feel are needing us. Speaking of the spirit, this week was great, and the spirit was a huge help to us. We taught a ton this week and found a lot of new investigators/families who seem to a have a lot of potential and willingness to find out more about God’s church on earth. On Tuesday we were doing contacts and saw a family cutting bushes in their front yard. We asked if they wanted help and of course they said no, cuz they thought we were joking. We told them we would come back the next morning to help. Sure enough we came back the next morning and they were so surprised that we actually came back to help and didn’t want to get paid. As we cut their bushes for them they kept asking if it was voluntary what we were doing....like we were going to finish and then say ok that was 50 bucks (haha). We took awhile explaining to them our work as missionaries and how we really take 2 years of our life to help people like Christ did. They were super shocked but in the end loved us. We went back a couple more times during the week and they think we are so awesome. They even went to church Sunday which was cool. We also found a few other families during the week and Sunday the members brought a bunch of nonmembers to church which was a huge blessing. One of the nonmember girls they brought was on the street and saw the family walking to church, she went up to them and said that she was really needing a church to go to that didn’t yell in church....ours is about the only church here that doesn’t yell, so the family brought her and we set a time to talk to her and her 6 brothers this week.
Wednesday we met a girl at one of our investigators houses who had already been to church and had a super strong testimony. We had never met her before until this week, but really seemed to have a great spirit about her. We asked her the baptismal questions and she really does have the will to be baptized, but her mom literally hates the church (because she thinks it’s a cult) and said she could baptized in ANY church except for ours. So she said Saturday she would sneak out of the house to get baptized, and once she was baptized her mom and family would accept the church and let her go every Sunday. She is 18 years old so didn’t need her mom’s signature but she said that if her mom knew about the baptism she would lock all the doors and not let her leave...so sneaking out was the only way. So we set the date for Saturday. So Saturday came and unfortunately I had to do divisions with our ZL in another area super far away to do an interview for another baptism in our zone. But while I was gone Elder Moore went to her house (Camila) and took her to the church where she was baptized... and her family still doesn’t know. Really she just needs to moved out, because there are ton of other problems with her mother and family that only leaving the house can solve.
Sunday we had 6 investigators at church which was way cool, and Elder Moore and I sang nearer my god to thee with parts during sacrament meeting which went great :) Also yesterday was the last day of the transfer and we didn’t’ get a call so I’ll be here another 6 weeks with Elder Moore! Awesome! I’m way excited for the and families that will be ready to be baptized soon!
