Hola Famìlia!!! Como que vocês estão!?
This week was a pretty normal week, nothing super crazy happened. This last week Junior who we baptized a couple weeks ago received the Melchizedek Priesthood. He has been helping the ward so much and studying and showing so much progress as a member that the stake already decided he was ready to receive all of the blessings of the priesthood that are possible before the temple. In one year they will have the blessing and opportunity to be sealed as a family (Adriana and Junior). We are super excited and happy for them as they strengthen each other as a happy Christ-following home and family.
We have Fernanda and Geovana (mom and daughter) set to be baptized on the 30th. The blessings and answers they have received about the truthfulness of God's church on earth is more than I have ever seen in my last year as a missionary, but for some reason they seem to still have doubts because of the constant anti-Mormon garbage that people have been throwing at them. It is mainly her sister who lives next to her, but never does anything to help her, just lead her away from the truth. But at the same time she has a great family that lives way over on the other side of Brazil that are all members and supporting her 100 percent. So with the help of all the members, her family and the spirit, her baptism will happen on the 30th along with her daughter Geovana. So we are super excited for them.
Also we have been teaching Zenaide. We almost kicked her because of the lack of progression. She has a huge problem with smoking and we have tried everything, even the cigarette tea, which is an elder favorite but this week she has started to lessen the amount she smokes. She also came to church so we'll continue to help her help herself because as elders there is only so much we can do. If someone really wants to stop smoking they will.
This week we had a great district meeting with a member of the stake who talked to us about being Class-A missionaries. He talked a lot about how the main part of being a missionary is the finding. If God has prepared someone to join his church on earth, they WILL baptize. The hardest part is for the missionaries to then find them, which shouldn't be too hard as long as you are letting the spirit lead you (literally like a GPS). Once the right people are found, its done…..game over…..BAPTISM! But he talked a ton about talking to EVERYONE that we see, which is harder than it sounds. It just takes a lot of courage and knowing what to say with the spirit. Anyway, we all got pretty excited about contacting everyone in Garanhuns. The next day our ZL's did one of those old fashion preaching sermons in the middle of a park and got a bunch of people to come to them and listen and yell hallelujah and praise the Lord as the elders preached the restoration (haha). The main part of missionary work is just having the courage to talk to everyone. Fear = your bodies defense mechanism to something that is dangerous. Fobia = your bodies defense mechanism reacting to something that shows not hard at all. Is being afraid to talk to people about the Gospel a fear or a fobia? The speaker went on to say that fear is not bad, everyone has fear, courage is not having fear, but courage is fighting against the something that is bringing fear to your body. Anyway, I thought that was cool.
This week we get to go to a zone conference and the temple so that will be way fun with our whole zone. Nothing is too new. We're working and teaching, doing the things missionaries should do.
